Intrusive Interstitials Mobile Penalty ( January 2017)
Google has updated an algorithm called “Intrusive Interstitials”. Update mainly focus on like when opening a site in mobile the ads pop-ups and which lacks the user experience and disrupt the user while reading an article on the mobile. which occupies the large screen space of the mobile and also reduces the traffic to the website.
Now Google started increasing more focus on user experience. When Google finds ads or pop-up that are frequently seen on the mobile site then Google can penalize and think once more before you placing your pop-ups.
Fred Update (March 2017)
Fred update was released to penalize the website for which is having “thin Content” on their website. This was rolled out to target the website that was making add revenue by increasing more number traffic to their site. But not giving value to the content.
So, now in terms of Fred update, we should drive a website with high-quality content and more informative stuff to visitor’s and do the content audit to find thin content and try to overcome it.
Jobs Search Layout by Google (June 2017)
Google has updated the SERP with job search algorithm. Users can find the job’s by entering the phrases that they wanted to search in SERP and we can also modify search results like part time, full time, and can also sort by the date they posted.
Chrome HTTP Warnings ( October 2017)
October 2017, Google rolled out an update which shows an information whether the site is “Secure” or “Not Secure”. Google will show a not secure warning in the chrome for the HTTP sites and they don’t consider whether field entry forms are present or not.
To overcome this we should certify with SSL Certification and change over to HTTPS URL. If the website is not switched then we may face drop down ranks and it will affect many more aspects of the SEO.
Increase in Meta Description length (November 2017)
Before meta description length was 160 characters limit. In November 2017, Google rolled out the update to increase the length from 160 to double of 160, that is 300 to 320 character limit. Google updated because they wanted to display more snippet information for the user to find relevant web pages to the queries.
Now there is no limit of 160 characters, so you can give more description to the user and where it can one factor to increase the rank and this lead to improving your click-through rate in organic search. Now Meta description can be re-written to boost your site pages.

Voice Search Update
Mr. Sundar Pichai CEO of Google told that the 20% of searches we get from SERP is voice search. Now a day’s people search their queries through voice while on the go. Presently mobile phone usage is increasing high day by day and accordingly, voice searches also increase.
People use natural language while they speak in voice search which is different from type. So it is very difficult to optimize for voice search. According to Neil Patel, people include like who, what, how, when and where to their search queries. So content to be optimized for the question phrases and blogs should be written as answering the questions.
Mobile Versions Will be Indexed First
Recently Google has announced that the mobile content will be indexed first and this confirms that mobile content will be a first ranking factor for the SERP.
